No eviction drive in Burrabazar & College Street, clarifies KMC Commissioner
Tension erupted in Patna on Friday after police allegedly used lathi charge on candidates protesting over delays in the Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE) 4.0 notification issued by the Bihar Public Service Commission. Thousands of aspirants gathered on the streets demanding immediate release of the recruitment notification and clarity regarding the recruitment process.
According to protest organisers, nearly 10,000 candidates participated in the demonstration, which began from Patna College and moved towards Dak Bungalow Chowk. The large gathering caused severe traffic disruption across several parts of the city. Protesters raised slogans against the Bihar government and accused authorities of delaying both the TRE 3 recruitment process and the notification for TRE 4.0.
The demonstrators also demanded that the government publicly disclose the total number of vacancies and announce a fixed timeline for the recruitment process. Another major demand raised during the protest was the implementation of a domicile policy to provide priority to local candidates from Bihar in teacher recruitment examinations. As the protest intensified and the crowd continued to grow, police intervened and attempted to disperse the aspirants.
Student leader Dilip Kumar, who addressed the gathering during the protest, alleged that unemployed youth preparing for recruitment examinations were being ignored despite months of preparation and uncertainty surrounding government jobs. He warned that if the TRE 4.0 notification was not released soon, the agitation could intensify further through indefinite protests and gherao demonstrations in the coming days.
